What a fair few days it has been! We’re always hot on the tail of celebrity baby news but this past weekend has thrown some corkers at us.

First up, the ever stunning Megan Fox has confirmed her pregnancy with a beautiful display of love whilst on holiday in Hawaii. Relaxing by the beach with hubby Brian, the 26 year-old actress looked simply glowing. We just wish we looked that gorgeous in a bikini!

Next up, the beautiful Giselle graced the cover of Vogue Brasil sporting an ever-so-slightly rounded tummy. Is the supermodel pregnant? We certainly think so!

Another celebrity model mum that is rumoured to be expecting her third child is Carla Bruni. The French model and musician only gave birth to daughter Guillia in October but is said to be expecting once more with 56 year-old husband and ex-president Nicolas Sarkozy. Now, what’s the French for congratulations?

Finally, the biggest shock came when Brit sensation Adele announced her pregnancy this weekend. Adele, who has taken time out of her singing career to focus on her relationship, announced via her website that she’d soon become a mother. We couldn’t think of anyone better to sing a sweet lullaby!

Another brilliant article to add to our mountain of press clippings is a piece by the Norwich Evening Post. The article, about celebrity style, mentions how our drape back dress has been worn by Sienna Miller during her pregnancy.

Interview with Michaela from Joy of Clothes

June 9, 2012 § Leave a comment

You may have spotted our feature earlier in the week on the Joy of Clothes website. Very kindly, Michaela from Joy of Clothes has answered our burning questions on how to dress during pregnancy and beyond and just what shapes and styles you should be looking for this season.

We love Joy of Clothes for the diversity – illustrated garments are linked to certain body shapes to give you the perfect idea of how it’ll look on your shape and size. The ability to click through and buy this seasons hottest trends and the ease in which they arrive to your door make this website a must visit for fashionistas and busy parents alike.

Now, onto the interview:

Q. How can mums adapt their style during pregnancy and their ever changing bodies? What do you think are the key pieces that need to be bought and what can be adapted from their current wardrobe?

A:  The best way is not to fight that your body is ever changing, not to compete with the figure you had before the pregnancy as well accepting that 80% of wardrobe won’t fit you during this time. Every woman will add weight during their pregnancy, but every woman gains it in the different way as every pregnancy is different. The best fits are loose fits to complement the added weight and pregnancy.  I believe using mix of solid colours are better than patterns in your clothes, so your look is less cluttered. Most working women prefer a trouser , top  and jacket and  for weekends top, hosiery and cardigan combinations. Now that the weather is getting warmer, pregnant women feel better in dresses feel because they are more airy and give more comfort.

Q: As a stylist, what have you found most women find as their problem area? And what are the solutions?

A: Most women don’t mind getting a bigger bust, but can start to feel upset and insecure when they start to gain weight on their hips, thighs and calves.  Again, it is not to compete with your former you and except that you are changing day by day. You can’t change this but you can change the clothes you wear. I suggest to avoid to choose clinging or any tight fitted clothes which are not only making you feel restraint and uncomfortable but also create the illusion that you are getting “bigger in the wrong places”.  As well buying clothes that are too baggy in style for your body shape or simply buying two sizes bigger are not ideal for addressing the problem area. My advice is to choose loose fitted clothes that give you shape as well comfort, which will result in confidence in your look. Also, choose more classic pieces instead and mixed them up with some solid colours. Keep the fashionable pieces to jewellery and handbags.  Last but not least, you should dress the bump either in ” Empire style” or “Drop waist” style, but never in the middle in the form of the traditional ” Waist style”.

Q: What are your favourite looks for S/S12? Are there any fabrics/colours that work for all shapes this season?

A: My favourite look combinations are bootcut trousers with a top and jacket.  Which style, pattern and colour depends on the occasion, personality and weather.  Since bright colours are big this season, I would suggest to get some trousers and jeans in long and cropped styles but in neutral colours. I suggest combining trousers/jeans with a top in a bright colour while the jacket is again in neutral colour such as stone, dark navy, white, grey or black. Monchrome works brilliantly this season for work, evening and special events. The 2-in-1 printed maternity dress by Keungzai is one of my favourite maternity dresses ever. It has a loose fit at the right places, keeps the attention to the top. The result is it doesn’t compete with your bump and with your possible problem zone, but will balance them out visually.  If you prefer tops over dresses, the Keungzai printed shirt is perfect as it has the right length to balance the bump visually and the 3/4 length sleeve will guarantee you comfort. In terms of fabrics I suggest jersey and any other fabrics that have elastin to give you the extra comfort.

Q: There’s a lot of “celebrity style” on the website- which celebrity parent do you think gets it right every time?

A: There are celebrity women who dress for the cameras or for the wrong kind attention.  For me, the most important thing is that pregnant celebrities have to be convincing in what they are wearing to the occasion- same as in real life.  When I see pregnant celebrities dressed up to the nines wearing high heels while pregnant and doing the school run, it simply doesn’t feel “real” and convincing. In regards to the ones who are getting it right, I distinguish between 2 celebrity styles – the natural and the fashionable.  I would say Reese Whetherspoon and Jennifer Garner are belonging into the natural group, while Claudia Schiffer and Jessica Alba in the other group. Though they are all different they always get it right for their style personality, season and occasion. You never feel they over do it or do it for the camera. Therefore I find them the most convincing and relevant as style icons.

Q: How can we change the stigma of shapes? Everyone wants to be an hourglass shape but how can we educate women that pear shapes/apple shapes etc are healthy too. How will ‘Style Me’ revolutionise the way a customer shops?

A: By stop comparing yourself to others and accepting who you are and how you are built. Before you dress yourself you have to assess yourself from top to bottom. It is important to know what your advantages as well what your disadvantages. Once you know you choose the shapes that complement the advantages and balance out the disadvantages, you’re good to go.We all have parts we like better than others. There are only a few who are perfectly built and these women are not the norm.

Thank you so much to Michaela- what has been the best piece of advice you’ve been given during your pregnancy? Are you a victim of just buying 2 sizes up or do you have a whole wardrobe dedicated to maternity wear? Don’t forget to tweet us your thoughts and you can head over to our Pinterest to see which celebrities we think have great mummy style.

Gorgeous Breastfeeding Clothes

May 2, 2012 § Leave a comment

One of the reason’s I established Keungzai, The online maternity boutique – is because of the many conversations I had with friends on baby playdates about the lack of stylish nursing wear. We talked about the difficulty and frustration we felt when sourcing good quality breastfeeding clothes you wanted to wear, as opposed to a practical top from the high-street maternity store which was far from stylish nor inspiring.

Keungzai.com brings together the very best on the maternity and nursing wear market, making it easier for us time-poor moms to find gorgeous yet also functional clothes in one place.

Here is a selection of our most-wanted nursing wear pieces available at Keungzai.com:

All these beautiful pieces can be found here.

See our Stylist’s suggestions on how-to wear these pieces and get in touch with our Stylist today for a personal one-to-one consultation on your new wardrobe needs.
